Koivu Named Finland’s Captain

As Team Finland takes its shape for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, they have recently named veteran Minnesota Wild center Mikko Koivu as its captain. Turku, Finland’s very own has worn Finland’s C on his chest for three world championship tournaments, including the 2011 gold medal winners in Slovakia.

Koivu is clearly no stranger to the leadership role, having served as Wild captain for the past eight seasons, totaling 556 points in his 763 game tenure spent entirely in Minnesota.
