Sharp traded to the Stars

By Bobby Bauders

Chicago acquires:
Trevor Daley – Defense
Ryan Garbutt – Forward

Dallas acquires:
Patrick Sharp – Forward
Stephen Johns – Defense

Chicago needed to trade Sharp for cap relief. They partially accomplished this. Trevor Daley is a nice addition, but to a team that already has good depth at D. The Hawks should’ve targeted draft picks more than players in this trade. Their cap situation would’ve been a lot more comfortable.

The Dallas Stars got a great addition. They’re ready to make a playoff push, and with Benn, Seguin, Sharp, and Spezza leading the way, it looks like they may accomplish that this season.

Now I find it interesting that the Hawks decided to make a blockbuster trade in the same division. That’s risky business as the Central Division is arguably the most talented in the lead, making a repeat Cup championship just that much harder.
