BREAKING NEWS: Buffalo trades for Lehner and Legwand

By Bobby Bauders

The Ottawa Senators sent goaltender Robin Lehner and forward David Legwand to the Buffalo Sabres. This will help Buffalo’s goaltending situation greatly in the long run.

Ottawa gets:

2015 1st Round Draft Pick – New York Islanders

Buffalo gets:

Robin Lehner – Goalie

David Legwand – Forward

This pretty much confirms that the Sabres are no longer in the Talbot sweepstakes.

Lehner is 24 with a two year contract worth $2.25million a year. Legwand is 35 in August with one season remaining on his contract. He’ll earn $3million this year. Ottawa now has their goaltenders figured out for next season, while dumping Legwand and getting a decent draft pick.

Senators will now be able to pick up some young talent at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
